Queridos amigos del bolo césped,

Esta competición oficial, que es la de mayor rango a nivel regional que se puede organizar desde esta Federación, se está convirtiendo en todo un referente para los deportistas federados asociados a clubs andaluces. Me congratulo de ello, pues normalizar esta prueba en todas las especialidades deportivas amparadas por la FAB era objetivo prioritario desde el inicio de mi mandato, ahora hace diez años.
Como saben, el gobierno de la Junta de Andalucía, con el cual la FAB tiene que mantener una estrecha relación, ha cambiado de color político. Esa circunstancia nos produce cierta inquietud, pues nunca se sabe cómo puede afectar estos cambios a las entidades deportivas, y como pueden repercutir en nuestro funcionamiento orgánico. Sin embargo, por lo que hemos podido constatar en las reuniones que hemos mantenido las federaciones con los distintos cargos de la Consejería de Educacion y Deporte, desde el consejero, D. Javier Imbroda, el cual conocía personalmente antes de su nombramiento, hasta el secretario general de Deportes de la Junta, D. José María Arrabal. Ambas personalidades están muy vinculadas con la provincia de Málaga, por lo que me consta que ambos son conscientes de la importancia del bolo césped en la Costa del Sol. Ese hecho me hace ser optimista y pensar, que de haber cambios, estos sean a mejor.
Otro acontencimiento político que, si cabe, me preocupa más aún es, como ya habrán adivinado, el Brexit. La incertidumbre que nos produce a todos conocer si la salida del Reino Unido de la Unión Europea será con acuerdo o no, realmente deja muchas preguntas sin contestar. Esperemos que nuestros políticos, los británicos y los españoles, estén a la altura de las circunstancias y encuentren la mejor solución a los problemas que, previsiblemente, la salida pueda originar a los miles de británicos que llevan tantísimos años residiendo en Andalucía.
Otro cambio que se ha producido, del que ya avancé en este espacio el pasado año, ha sido en la Federación Española. Tras la moción de censura planteada contra el anterior presidente, éste dimitió, lo que alargó aún más el proceso. Con el actual presidente, D. José Luis Díaz de Rojas, he tenido la ocasión de hablar en varias ocasiones del bolo césped y sus ya históricos problemas con la federación estatal. Los cambios, a mejor, de la nueva gestión son evidentes y parece que, por primera vez en años, dichos problemas están en vías de solución. Desde mi posición, como miembro de la Junta Directiva de la FEB, lucharé para que así sea.
Esperemos acontecimientos, pero sea como sea, en todos los casos deseo fervientemente que ello no afecte al programa deportivo que actualmente se oferta a los deportistas federados, de nuestra comunidad autónoma, y que podamos seguir celebrando los Campeonatos de Andalucía de Bolo Césped durante muchísimo años, y cada vez en mejores condiciones.
Ahora sólo queda competir, disfrutar, divertirse y, sobre todo, convivir. Sin ello, el deporte carece de sentido.

This official competition, which is the highest regional level that can be organized from this Federation, is becoming a benchmark for Federated athletes associated with Andalusian clubs. I welcome this, since standardizing this test in all sports specialties covered by the FAB was a priority objective from the beginning of my term, now ten years ago.
As you know, the government of the Junta de Andalucía, with which the FAB has to maintain a close relationship, has changed political color. This circumstance causes us some concern, because you never know how these changes can affect sports entities, and how they can affect our organic functioning. However, for what we have been able to verify in the meetings that we have held the Federations with the different positions of the Ministry of Education and Sports, from the counselor, Mr. Javier Imbroda, who I knew personally before his appointment, to the Secretary General of Sports for the Junta, Mr. José María Arrabal. Both personalities are closely linked to the province of Malaga, so I know that both are aware of the importance of Lawn Bowls on the Costa del Sol. That fact makes me optimistic and to think, that if there are changes, they will be for the better .
Another political event that, if possible, worries me even more is, as you may have guessed, Brexit. The uncertainty that waiting to know if the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union will be agreed or not, really leaves many questions unanswered. We hope that our politicians, the British and the Spaniards, live up to the circumstances and find the best solution to the problems that, predictably, the exit can bring to the thousands of Britons who have lived in Andalusia for so many years.
Another change that has taken place, which I mentioned in this space last year, has been in the Spanish Federation. After the motion of censure against the previous President, he resigned, which extended the process even further. I have had the opportunity to speak on several occasions with the current President, Mr. José Luis Díaz de Rojas, about Lawn Bowls and its existing historical problems with the National Federation. The changes, perhaps, of the new management are evident and it seems that, for the first time in years, these problems are in the process of being solved. From my position, as a member of the FEB Board of Directors, I will fight to make it happen.
In all cases I fervently wish that this does not affect the sports program currently offered to Federated athletes from our autonomous community, and that we can continue to hold the Lawn Bowls Andalusian Championships for a very long time and every time in better conditions.
Now we just have to compete, enjoy, have fun and, above all, live together. Without it, the sport is meaningless.
