LEAGUE MATCHES - REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF PLAY
1. Participation
(a) The Competition will consist of 2 Leagues.
(b) In the Triples League, each Match will consist of Club Sides of 4 teams of Triples. The triples team can be ladies, gents or mixed.
In the Pairs League each Match will consist of Club Sides of 4 teams of Pairs. The Pairs team can be ladies, gents or mixed.
(c) Each Club participating may only enter one Side in the Ttiples League.and one Side in the Pairs League.
(d) Players will be allowed to play for any of their Club Sides, subject to conditions stipulated in section 4(c) below, but for only one Side in Matches scheduled for the same day or week. If a Match is postponed to another day, or is to be resumed on another day, a player shall not play in the postponed or resumed Match if having already played in another Side on the day, or in the week, that the postponed or resumed Match that was to have been played or completed (see Condition 4(c)). Also refer to Condition 11 relating to the eligibility of players for re-scheduled Matches
(e) Each Side in the Triples League will play one another twice during the season , once at home and once away. The Pairs League will be FOUR times, twice at Home and twice Away.
(f) The starting dates and times will be as per the published Fixture Lists.

(g) A Match will be any one scheduled game between two Sides.
(h) Each Club will designate a contact who will be responsible for liaising with the League Co-ordinator at all times on matters relating to League affairs.
2. Match Schedule
(a) Matches must be played at the venue, and on the day scheduled on the Fixture List, as determined by the FAB Malaga Province Delegation.
(b) All Matches must commence at 11.00 hours unless it is mutually agreed by the Captains of the 2 Sides.
3 Scoring
(a) A winning Team will gain 2 points. If a Team draws it will gain 1
point.
(b) The Side with the highest overall shot difference will gain 2 points. In the event of the total overall shots scored by each Side being equal, each Side will gain 1 point.
(c) The total number of points available for each Match is: Triples:10 points. Pairs: 10 points
4 Players
(a) All players in League Matches must be paid up members of the Club they are representing. Clubs must ensure players are eligible. Failure to comply incurs a penalty of 2 points per offence and a shot penalty of 18 points or the actual shot difference in a completed game whichever is greater.
(b) Where a Club has 2 Sides, in the event of a Match being started
and subsequently abandoned, any participating player is not eligible to play for another of the Club’s Sides where the Match was originally scheduled for the same date.
(c) Any player participating in a re-scheduled League Match must have been
a Member of the Club at the time of the original fixture.
(d) All players in a Team must have the same stickers on their bowls.
5 Changing Clubs
If during the season a player joins another Club, and wishes to play for the new Club for the remainder of the season, they will inform the PreSident of the new Club, and the Membership Secretary of the FAB Malaga Delegation (currently Julian Thomas) by email, of their intentions before entering any competition. Only one change is allowed during each season.
6 Postponed Match
(a) A Match can be postponed prior to the bowling of the first bowl by
mutual agreement of the captains of both Sides, on account of weather conditions and exceptional circumstances. The designated contact of each Club must advise the League Co-ordinator within 24 hours, by e-mail or telephone, of their agreement to take this action.
(b) When a Match is postponed, the designated contact of the HOME Side
must, within 48 hours, offer the designated contact of the away Side a minimum of 3 dates within the next 28 days when the venue is available and they are prepared to play.
In the event of a Match being postponed in the pre-Christmas period, the 28 Day clause applies up to the final league fixture date in December and from the opening fixture in the post-Christmas calendar.
Example: If a fixture for 11th November is postponed and the final League fixture is December 2nd , this constitutes 21 days. If the opening post- Christmas fixture is January 13th , the re-scheduled fixture must be played on or before January 20th
(c) The designated contact of the AWAY Side must respond within 48 hours of receipt of the offer accepting one of the dates offered.
(d) Failure to comply with section (4(b)) above will result in the forfeiture of the Match by the home Side and 10 points will be awarded to the away Side.
(e) Failure to comply with section (4(c)) above will result in the forfeiture of the Match by the away Side and 10 points will be awarded to the home Side with green fees being paid by the away Side.
(f) The designated contact of the HOME Side is responsible for informing the
League Co-ordinator of the date and time of the re-arranged Match . It is recommended that the League Co-ordinator is copied on all communication covered by (b) and (c) above.
(g) In the event of a postponed Match being re-arranged within the 2 days
allocated as ‘fall-back’ days for a FAB Malaga Provincial or Open Tournament , and that Tournament overruns due to inclement weather , the 2 teams may further re-arrange the fixture in line with sections (b) and (c) to avoid any possible conflict and section (e) also applies.
7 Game Stoppages
(a) If a Match is stopped by the mutual agreement of both Side Captains , it
must be resumed with the score as was when the Match stopped (WB Law 32).
(b) If each team in the Side has completed at least 14 ends, the Side captains have the option of considering Condition 8 (Abandoned Match). Note: ALL teams in the Side must have reached at least 14 ends.
(c) Rearrangement of Matches as per Section 6 (above)
8. Abandoned Match
(a) A Match can be abandoned after play has commenced with the mutual agreement of both Side captains on account of darkness, weather conditions, or any other valid reason, providing each team in the Side has completed at least 14 ends (14 ends constitutes a game). If it is agreed to abandon a Match it will not be resumed, and the scores at the time of the Match being abandoned, will be the final score and result. This decision of the Captains will be final and must not be reversed.
(b) If there is no agreement between the Captains, the abandoned Match will be deemed to be a game stoppage and Rule 7 above will apply.
(c) If one Side’s Captain abandons a Match without mutual agreement, the Match will be deemed to have been forfeited by that Side’s Captain. The scores will be cancelled and 10 points will be awarded to the opposing Side. If, on appeal to the League Co-Ordinator, together with 2 neutral FAB Malaga Delegation Committee members, the Committee considered that the action of the Side captain abandoning the Match was reasonable in the circumstances, the Match will be resumed in accordance with WB Law 32.
9. Substitutes
(a) In a resumed Match, if any of the original players in a team is not available, one substitute will be allowed as stated in WB Law 32.4.
(b) Substitutes must not have played in any game, or Match, in any division of the League that was played on the original date of the postponed or stopped Match or any other postponed, re-arranged or resumed Match that was to have been played on the original date and has since been played. (See also League Condition 11: Re-scheduled Matches and eligibility players.)
(c) In the Side requiring a substitute, no players must be transferred from one team of triples to another.
10. Penalty for Non-appearance
(a) If a Side is not present, and ready to play, within 30 minutes of a scheduled start time that Side will forfeit the Match and 10 points awarded to the non-defaulting Side. If the away team defaults, green fees must be paid.
(b) If a Side does not have a complete Side within 30 minutes of a scheduled start time, the Match must continue with the complete teams present. The defaulting Side will forfeit 2 points for each team not present and a shot difference of +18 (i.e. 18-0) will be awarded to their opponents which will be the score recorded for that rink in the overall result.
(c) The remaining teams will play for the 2 points awarded for each remaining game.
(d) After all adjustments have been made, the Side with the highest number of shots will be awarded the 2 points for the highest aggregate score.
(e) In the event of a Club fielding an ineligible player in a re-scheduled fixture,, the defaulting Side will forfeit the 2 points and 10(b), 10(c) and 10(d) will apply. In the event of both Clubs fielding ineligible players on the same rink, that rink will be void and NO points will be awarded and a 0-0 score will appear in the overall Match score.
11. Defaulting on a Fixture
Any Club defaulting on a Fixture will receive the following penalties:
(a) The Match will be forfeit and the defaulting Side will be penalised 2 points and 18 shots per rink plus 2 points for the overall score win.
If they are the Away Side the Club will be responsible for paying the required green fees.
(b) Their Opponents will be awarded 2 points and 18 shots per rink plus 2 points for the overall score win.
12. Re-scheduled Matches and Eligibility of Players
NO player can play for 2 Sides when the dates of the original Matches were scheduled to be played on the same day.
When the date for the re-scheduled Match has been established, NO player can play for a League Side if they played in a different League fixture which took place on the same day or in the same week.
Where a re-scheduled fixture is played in the same week as an originally scheduled fixture (e.g. a re-scheduled Match is played on a Wednesday and an original League Match is to be played on the following Friday), ALL eligible players can play in the 2 Matches as there is NO conflict.
Any Club member participating in re-scheduled Matches MUST have been a fully paid up member of the Club they are representing, and MUST have been a fully Federated Member of the FAB, on the date of the original fixture.
13. Club or Side Leaving the League
(a) If a Club, or a Side of a Club, withdraws from the League for any reason or, as determined by the FAB Malaga Delegation for a breach of World Bowls Laws, local Rules and Conditions of Play, or for any other disciplinary reasons, then all Matches played by that Club or Side in the League season will be null and void.
(b) Shots and points of the Sides that have played against the withdrawn Club or Side will be adjusted accordingly.
14. Reporting Results
The designated contact of BOTH SIDES must notify the result of the Match to the League Co-ordinator, by e-mail only, within 24 hours of the Match being played.
The Team Captain of each Side must ensure the score cards contain the Side names, surnames of their players and, on completion of the game, are signed by both ‘Skips’. The completed score cards must be scanned or photographed and sent electronically to the League Co-ordinator (see 13(a).
In a re-scheduled Match please ensure the date for the original Match is clearly displayed on the scorecards.
